Meredith Bruder
FOUNDER, Board Member
Meredith Bruder was born and raised just outside Boston, MA and graduated from Emory University in Atlanta, GA. Animals and her desire to see them treated with love and respect has always been her passion. They give so much, ask for so little, and they enrich our lives in so many ways! She know we can do better by our animals and feels it’s important to fight for them since they can’t fight for themselves.
Tina Kapp
BOARD MEMBER
Tina Kapp has recently retired from her position as the Executive Director of CCESuites and is planning to venture into the medical marijuana business. She is married with two children and has three dog’s that are her “perfect children”.
Marc Aptakin
BOARD MEMBER
Marc Aptakin is the founder and owner of full-service ad-agency MAD studios, as well as three MAD manufacturing locations throughout South Florida. Marc is also the founder of a wholesale eyewear business, Mad Vision; a luxury coffee brand, Dauphin Kaffee; a business-signage store, Signs in a Flash; and two expanding ad divisions, MADPR and MADDev. An artist turned entrepreneur, Marc is also the creator of new art studio, BAD space and an animal lover and philanthropist at heart, serving a part of Pets’ Broward Board of directors.
Scott Marcus
Board Member
Scott A. Marcus is an attorney and shareholder in one of Florida’s top ranked law firms. Scott’s focus is on real estate transactions; specifically high-end residential real estate transactions. He is an animal lover and currently lives in Plantation with Zoey, his shelter rescue.
Monique Perez
Board Member
Monique Perez is a Property Manager in Sunny Isles Beach, FL. She graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration in 2012. In 2013, she became involved with Pets’ Broward after seeing their “Kill this dog” campaign billboard while driving home from work. Monique is an avid animal lover and is passionate about ensuring a better future for Broward shelter pets.
Debra Lesniak
Board Member
Debra Lesniak entered the animal welfare world in 2003 when she discovered a population of community cats eating from a restaurant dumpster. This compelled Debra to start practicing and teaching others the method of trap-neuter-return (TNR). From here, Debra joined the board of Cause for Paws Florida, an organization dedicated to feline rescue and adoption. In 2013, after 32 years of service, Debra retired as the Assistant Director of the Department of Community Control for The Broward Sheriff’s Office. Following her retirement, she made her passion for saving animals a full-time effort. Debra has been a volunteer with Pets’ Broward since 2013, and has made the commitment to join the Board in 2017. She and her family (which include a number of kitty rescues and a recent dog rescue, Coco) are dedicated to helping animals in the community and supporting the “No Kill” effort for as long as it takes.
Grace Johns
Board Member
Grace Johns, Ph.D, is an economist and through her work, she has demonstrated that protecting Florida’s natural environment has tremendous value to the state’s economy and its residents. She is also Chair of the American Water Works Association – Florida Section. Having served on the board of Pets’ Broward since October 2013, Dr. Johns also understands how important it is to save the lives of adoptable pets. As a 30-year resident of Broward County, Dr. Johns is committed to working with the community to become a “No Kill” county.
Christopher Miller
Board Member
Christopher is the Marketing and Communications Manager at Arc Broward, a nonprofit organization that provides opportunities for people with disabilities and other life challenges to realize their full potential. Chris joined the Board while he was part of Leadership Broward Class XXXV’s Spay Pawsitive Team that helped launch Pets’ Broward’s new Website, developed the F.A.N.S. Club, increased social media presence and hosted a number of events during April 2017 Get Your Pet Fix Month. A native of Michigan, Chris and his wife moved to South Florida in 2005 with their two rescued cats, Dux and Edgar. Since then, they have added a daughter, India, and a third rescued cat, Abby.
